According to the Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2021, four in ten businesses (39%) and a quarter of charities (26%) have reported having cybersecurity attacks in the last 12 months. Quantitative and qualitative evidence from the study suggests that the risk level is potentially higher than ever under COVID-19 and that businesses have found it harder to administer cybersecurity measures during the pandemic.

The UK National Fraud & Cyber Crime Reporting Centre calculates that £34.5 million has been stolen in online fraud and scams since March 2020. Since schools, colleges and universities returned in September 2020, there has been a sharp rise in ransomware attacks against them.
