Advances in Teaching and Learning for Cyber Security Education conference

Can we build lasting cyber resilience without cyber security education that meets national needs?

The Advances in Teaching and Learning for Cyber Security Education (AiTLCE) 2026 is the annual conference of CSE Connect, bringing together educators, researchers, practitioners and policymakers to address a central question: how do we ensure that cyber security education is genuinely fit for the national need it is here to serve? Hosted at Abertay University in Dundee and supported by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the conference runs across two days and is free to attend.

The programme is organised around four themes. The first considers cyber education as a national asset, exploring whether the UK’s education communities are being built with the quality and coherence that national cyber resilience demands. The second looks at how certified and designated institutions can move beyond meeting a standard to actively shaping a national response. The third addresses reskilling in an evolving AI landscape, asking how credible and flexible pathways can be built for experienced professionals and career changers at scale. The fourth theme asks whether cyber education is being designed to solve the workforce challenges of yesterday, rather than those of tomorrow.

This year’s programme extends its reach internationally, with keynote contributions and workshop participation from leading figures in the Australian, Canadian and US cyber education communities. Across papers, demonstrations and four structured workshops, topics span curriculum design and CyBOK mapping, competition-based and game-based learning, AI integration in teaching and assessment, threat-informed and scenario-based learning, reskilling and mid-career pathways, inclusive pedagogy, digital forensics, agentic AI approaches, and the design of school, college and higher education pathways, among others.

AiTLCE 2026 is open to anyone with a stake in how cyber security is taught, researched and developed in the UK and beyond. The conference particularly encourages attendance from ACE-CSE Directors and their academic teams, institutions holding or pursuing NCSC Certified Degree status, and Regional Hub collaborators across the CSE Connect network.

Abertay University is located in Dundee city centre and is accessible by rail, bus, air and road. Dundee railway station is around a ten-minute walk from the campus, with direct services from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. A range of accommodation options are available in the city centre, and early booking is recommended. The campus is fully accessible to wheelchair users, with step-free access, lifts to all floors, accessible toilets and an induction loop.
