Join the next online thought-leadership roundtable organised by the Transatlantic Cybersecurity Business Network on 29th March from 2pm to 3pm BST. Featuring Ciaran Martin, former CEO of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, this online event will explore cybersecurity technology efficacy and the case for a cybersecurity buyers’ charter.

In October 2020, Debate Security published a report titled “Cybersecurity Technology Efficacy: Is Cybersecurity the new Market for Lemons?” based on interviews with over 100 senior cybersecurity professionals. The report highlighted that 90% of buyers believe that the cybersecurity market is failing because the technology isn’t as effective as it needs to be (the report was also featured in The Economist).

The next step is to catalyse action to address this market failing and raise the bar for cybersecurity technology. The SAFER Cybersecurity Buyer’s Charter, authored by Ciaran Martin and Joe Hubback details a framework of activities designed to drive this change, based on the following principles:

• Symmetry of information between buyer and vendor

• Assessment frameworks and practices

• Freedom of entry and innovation in the market

• Efficacy-based Assurance

• Risk-based decision making

Other high-profile speakers include:

Paul Branley, Deputy CISO and Director of Strategy, Innovation and Testing, Lloyds Banking Group

John Smith, CTO EMEA, Veracode
