Home Office Launches Open Consultation on the Computer Misuse Act
Consultation closes at 11:45pm on 8 June 2021
The Home Office has launched a review of the UK’s Computer Misuse Act, to ensure the legislation continues to meet the challenges posed by the threats in cyberspace, and offers the rights tools and mechanism to detect, disrupt and deter our adversaries.
A Call for Information will be open until 8 June 2021. It seeks views on whether changes are needed to the Computer Misuse Act to improve the UK’s ability to protect our society from cyber crime, and particularly asks for how organisations are affected by the Act; whether offences, sentencing and law enforcement powers are adequate; if legitimate cyber security activity is sufficiently protected; and what can be learned from international best practice.
