DSIT announces a new opportunity to help shape the UK cyber landscape

Ipsos, the independent research organisation, is carrying out an annual government survey on behalf of the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), exploring the growth, support and skills needs of the UK’s cyber sector. It is endorsed by the UK Cyber Security Council, the National Cyber Security Centre, CIISec, techUK, UKC3, teiss and SASIG. Hundreds of cyber sector businesses have taken part in previous years, and this is your chance to be part of an important long-term study.

The survey should be completed by a senior member of staff with an understanding of the growth, skills and recruitment needs of your business. It takes around 22 minutes on average, and is often shorter for smaller organisations.

Here are some important findings from last year’s study, which have been used to track progress against the government’s 2022 to 2025 National Cyber Strategy:

  • Cyber security businesses like yours generated £13.2 billion for the UK economy, which was a 12% increase from the previous year’s study.
  • £206 million was invested in UK cyber sector businesses last year.
  • There are approximately 67,300 Full Time Equivalents working in a cyber security related role across the cyber security firms identified.

You can find more information, including the Ipsos privacy policy for this study, on the GOV.UK project webpage. We hope you can contribute to this year’s statistics, and look forward to hearing from you.
